My daughter loves the book and I will recommend for parents to buy for their children In Key stage three in high school

The book tries to take somewhat dry information and make it fun or funny, which I have to give them credit for. Even if it’s cheesy, we have laughed at some of the jokes in the book. Obviously hands on learning and experience need to accompany this book in order to really understand and know everything in a practical “can-do” type of way, but it’s a good starting point. I would hope by the time anyone gets to KS3 though, most of this would just be review, and common sense. I think most kids are pretty up on the latest technology anyway, but we have used some of the lessons to create a project for another subject that uses technology and integrates some of the lessons at the same time. So it’s been helpful, and I’d recommend it.

All of these books are brilliant. My daughter is using them to help with homework as they don’t bring books home with them. Highly recommend.

This guide contains jokes, pretty pictures, pretty colours, and looks more like a page of the Beano than a study book. Admittedly, that makes it more enticing to pick up, but my daughter got very frustrated with it.

It asks questions to check learning – but does not give the answers. Not useful! I am also unsure what a question on what one would call a three legged donkey adds to the study of ICT at key stage three.

It would possibly appeal to the more reluctant reader, but if your child is after a serious text book to help them get into the stream they want for GCSE then this is possibly not the book for you, it is rather “lightweight”.
