My kids are 12 so technically a little old, but missed out on learning handwriting for various reasons. However, they have finally shown an interest and finding a book which wasn’t too childish seemed difficult, but this bridged the gap. Its substantial pagination and great price point make is a practical choice, especially as there’s always the risk the kids won’t take to it.
This book has been a massive help, they are more or less teaching themselves with a little initial help. They went through doing a few lines of each letter before going back to the start to begin on the joined up words, which seemed to make more sense. But I can understand how having words interspersed would break up monotony. Having so many pages dedicated to practicing single capital letters seemed a bit pointless when they don’t join up to other letter and will have already been practiced plenty before kids reach this stage.
One big criticism is the excessive Union Jack Branding and “England” as a word to practice. Very off putting and makes it irrelevant to a non-English market even within the UK.
I would love if there was a follow up book with narrower rulings to encourage practice of smaller handwriting suitable for secondary education.
