  • Psychological Essays

Alfred Richard Orage (1873-1934) was born in Dacre, West Riding, Yorkshire, and was a schoolteacher in Leeds for twelve years, during which time he helped found the Leeds Arts Club. He moved to London in 1906, where he worked as editor of The New Age: A Weekly Review of Politics, Literature and Art, to which many well-known writers and intellectuals contributed. He was involved in socialism for a time, and was a supporter of the social credit system of C.H. Douglas. During the years 1922 to 1930, Orage worked with G.I. Gurdjieff in France and the United States, after which he returned to England, where he became editor of The New English Weekly. He died suddenly during the early morning of 6th November, 1934, having given a radio talk for the B.B.C. on Social Credit the evening before, apparently in good health.

Orage wrote wrote fifteen short Psychological Essays in the 1920s. They encompass such subjects as thought power and mental development, dealing with dark moods, the relationship between thought, feeling and body, the importance of active curiosity, observation, and so on. Although these can be read as stand-alone essays, they are very much connected with each other in the sequence given, and in their totality give a kind of recipe for living life to the full.

Sometimes the most frightening thing is not the wind howling through the trees…but what’s lurking there.

Xander Corey is certain that what his husband, Lorne MacBain, the chief of police in their little town of Osprey, is seeing outside their kitchen window is nothing to worry about. It’s concerning that whenever Xander looks, there’s nothing there, but really, it could be anything. Why borrow trouble and assume the worst? Besides, it’s midwinter, after all, and everything is sleeping.

    Or should be.

And while during the deep, dark days and even darker nights, things can get spooky, that’s not to say that logical minds won’t prevail, even when tested at the most vulnerable time. Remaining steadfast in the face of danger is what guardians do… and staying alive would certainly help as well.

Bad acting is forgivable. Murder is not!

Strathfulton Castle is many things—ancient, imposing, and never dull for long—but when a troupe of temperamental London actors descends upon the estate, even Maeve Morgan isn’t prepared for the drama that follows.

What begins as a harmless rehearsal for a touring production quickly spirals into real-life tragedy when a celebrated actress collapses in the castle’s green room. At first, it looks like theatrical excess gone too far. But Maeve, former police officer turned reluctant countess, knows the difference between make-believe murder and the real thing, and this is most definitely the latter.

With the police frustratingly absent, Maeve finds herself navigating a castle full of oversized egos, secret grudges, and actors who all seem to be performing even when the curtain is down. As tensions rise and another death shocks the household, it becomes chillingly clear that someone is rewriting the script—and they’re not done yet.

Surrounded by poison pens, prop daggers, and a company where everyone has a motive and no one is entirely trustworthy, Maeve must uncover the truth before the final act claims yet another victim.

Witty, atmospheric, and delightfully twisty, Death in a Green Room is a classic British cozy mystery packed with sharp dialogue, theatrical intrigue, and a heroine who proves that murder is far harder to conceal than bad acting.

  • All Jobs and Classes! I Just Wanted One Skill, Not Them All! (LITRPG/EPIC PROGRESSION): Book II

    01
While barbarians were getting ready to continue the invasion, adults argued and soldiers postured, Ludger with a system in his eyes realized something far more unsettling: if trouble kept coming time and time again, someone would have to meet it head-on.

That decision dragged him far from home and straight into the tutelage of a shameless drunkard, an earth mage whose greatest talents were leveling mountains and emptying bottles. Unfortunately for Ludger, the man was also a former guildmaster. Between half-coherent lessons, improvised training, and near-fatal “practical demonstrations, thanks to a troublesome companion” Ludger learned that earth magic wasn’t about raw power, it was about anchoring, endurance, and knowing exactly when to stand firm and when to reshape the ground beneath your enemy’s feet.

As threats escalate and alliances fray, Ludger realizes that reacting isn’t enough. Mercenaries scatter. Lords hesitate. Someone needs to build something that lasts. Something organized. Something strong enough to push back without breaking.

What begins as a reckless attempt to impose order on chaos becomes the birth of a guild forged by necessity rather than ambition. Between northerner incursions, political pressure, and the constant risk of being crushed by forces far larger than himself, Ludger carves out a new role, not as a sheltered prodigy, but as a builder of foundations. Stone by stone, contract by contract, he steps into a future where survival means leadership, and power means responsibility.

Because if the world insists on marching toward war, Ludger refuses to stand still, no matter how scary his mother is when she thinks he’s in danger.

The Wolf is wily and pitiless and will not stop until he’s made them all suffer.

Raven is determined to prevent him from hurting her beloved father but not even her considerable skills may be enough to save One Eye from the vengeance of one of Norway’s fiercest mercenaries and, worst of all, a member of her own beloved family.

Please note, this book is part of a series and is not a stand alone novel.

  • Trojan Six: Part Five: A zombie apocalypse survival thriller (Trojan Six: Zombie apocalypse Series Book 5)

When the motorway became a graveyard, Birchanger Services was supposed to be safe.

Daniel Kerr reaches the M11 services at Bishop’s Stortford with Ellie Hales, two children, and police commander Rachel Doyle. The infection has not arrived yet. People are still eating. Still arguing. Still pretending the world outside can be outrun.

    They are wrong.

When the infected reach the services, survival becomes brutal and intimate. Ammunition is scarce. Weapons are improvised. Death comes at arm’s length. As Kerr helps secure the building, a darker truth emerges. One of the dead was never infected.

    Someone inside is killing.

What begins as a desperate stand against the undead turns into a nightmare of paranoia and violence as Kerr and Doyle hunt a murderer hiding among the survivors. When the wrong man is accused, the real killer reveals himself in the most terrifying way possible, triggering a hostage situation that collapses the last illusion of safety.

As the services are overrun and the infected pour inside, an unexpected figure intervenes. Corporal Jack Harker, a soldier who survived the collapse of the motorway, appears without warning and buys the group a chance to escape.

    But survival has a cost.

Set during a single night of bloodshed and moral collapse, Trojan Six: Part Five is a relentless post-apocalyptic thriller that blends zombie horror, siege survival, and psychological tension. This is not a story about heroes. It is about who people become when the rules are gone.

Perfect for fans of gritty zombie fiction, British apocalypse settings, and fast-paced survival horror.

Welcome to the Widows’ Book Club, where the wine flows freely and the gossip is irresistible…

Janet, Viv and Zelda’s monthly meet-ups have been a safe haven over the past few years: a chance to share life’s ups and downs and laugh their way through widowhood with a glass of wine in hand. But when Janet’s old flame Lewis walks back into her life – still charming, still handsome, and still very much married to his formidable wife Christobel – the widows find themselves caught up in unexpected drama.

Keen to show they are as cultured as Lewis and Christobel’s other friends, Janet fibs that the widows have a book club. So they set one up. But when Christobel demands she join and then promptly starts to take over, real life becomes much messier (and more exciting) than fiction…

So when she meets Gideon Maddox, she cannot believe a man as powerful, handsome, and wealthy as him would ever look at her twice, let alone ask her to marry him and have his baby.

After three years of trying, the test finally reads pregnant, and she’s overjoyed…but before she can tell him about their Christmas miracle, her joy quickly turns to sorrow when her husband reveals that he only married her for convenience.

And when Kendra runs, taking a precious Christmas gift with her, Gideon realizes something far more important than all his power and wealth has slipped through his fingers.
