Tired of browsing the net looking for a way to detox only to always find the same information? Do not trust those blog posts who always come back with those same 30-day juice fasts and how you would allegedly restore full health by eating only this weird food for 7 days (doctors hate him…)? Are you looking at this coffee enema procedure and can’t muster the guts to do it?
This book may be for you! In this no-nonsense opus, Peter Bennett and Stephen Barrie offer a lot of very practical and solid information on how to rid your body of toxins and contaminants.
Who will find this book interesting:
Anyone with a chronic condition will possibly need to be aware of this book.
Why you should read it:
– Very complete holistic approach, it includes nutritional, herbal & supplement advice, hydrotherapy and other techniques.
– It includes a comprehensive explanation of the mechanisms of detoxification.
– Information-dense yet easy to follow.
– There is a 7 days diet plan.
– The advice is overall balanced without excessive or weird therapies (and no, no colonics or coffee enema).
– The cost of following the advice of the programme is modest.
What can be improved on, from my point of view:
– The book is a little dated, which shows in the writing style. Unfortunately nowadays this type of writing requires that all references be explicitly quoted. Referring to “studies” is just not good enough. Although all the references are at the end of the book, it would have been useful to include a way to reference to those within the book itself.
– Having been initially printed in 2001, certain fields that started to come to light in the last 20 or so years are missing, such as psychoneuroimmunology, epigenetics, EMF pollution, and others.
– Some aspects could have been covered in more details. For instance sauna therapy, exercise and meditation are only just mentioned, massage therapy is totally missing.
– There is a great chapter on lab testing, including which test to do and why. Sadly, the authors completely missed the explanation on how to read the test results.
