I love the message of this book. The concept that adoption can be both is such a valuable lesson for adoptees and those who love adoptees.

In a world where there are far too many twee, saccharine-sweet and unrealistic adoption story books for kids, this one is an absolute diamond! Simple, powerful, reflective and gorgeously illustrated, with a clear message for the child that is is OK to feel a range of emotions about being adopted (compared to other books which sometimes suggest the child should feel “grateful” for being “chosen” etc). A really wonderful addition to a social workers toolkit, or for all adoptive parents!

This is a great book to explain that you can feel both happy and sad about adoption. A theme that should be more prevalent in kids adoption books! Also the pictures are lovely. My son loved looking through it. Would recommend!
