Bought this for my mum, who has an allotment. It’s not really for people who already grow vegetables – very basic advise and information. Lots of photos of Gerald and not the best quality pictures. A fun item if you’re about to start growing veg.

The first book about gardening I have ever read from front to back. It will also be the second. Packed with great tips and written in the hugely comforting style anyone who follows Gerald on social media would expect. It deserves to be a best seller of giant carrot proportions !

I love his concise writing style. In just a few sentences Gerald tells you how to grow any veg. If you follow his instructions, you can grow massive veg but if you just take his tips you can grow successfully in any soil.
Now can anyone help me lift my 3 foot parsnips ? I keep snapping them !

What can I say about this brilliant little book. I advise all growers to have this in your book collection. The growing advice is priceless but Gerald’s childhood memories are classic.
