Anna Sewell should have lived a bit longer to see the success of her only novel. This is deeply touching as Black Beauty not only loses his beauty but also good health.
As the story is narrated from the horse’s perspective, the story makes its wonderful and indelible mark in the history of English literature.
Though a legal bill had long been passed before the novel came into being, cruelty towards animal like horses did not stop until the success of the story made its impact on Victorian society to curb such cruel practices. A wonderful achievement for the authoress.
