A nice simple book, handy reading!

A very thorough book which covers the subject in an informative and insightful way. I like the layout and design of the Dummies guides generally which has the effect of presenting a sometimes quite complex concept in an accessible and easily digestible manner.
This business development guide is broken down into handy bite size chapters. It is not as dry a subject as it would first appear. There’s a lot of interesting psychology involved. I liked the sections on business development plans, lifecycles and understanding your core customer base but it’s all good stuff.

Business Development for Dummies is a great book for Small Business owners. Its no quick read, and covers a wide range of areas some might not normally consider as business development. A better title might be Developing your Business for Dummies!
The book has 7 sections, starting with the fundamentals of business development before moving onto to marketing, sales etc. Each chapter has just enough detail to be informative but thin enough as to not bog the reader down. The examples given are useful, as well as the advice being practical and actionable.
The book seems to be leaning towards service businesses rather than product based businesses, with many examples and tips specifically for the former and not the later. This appears to be down to the background of the author, but it did leave me, a Director in a product based business, wanting for more on my business area.
Overall a text I would recommend to others, whether it is to dip in from time to time or for a business student to read start to finish.

The content of the book seems good. I’ve downloaded the kindle version, but I can’t access the free content from the links. Plus, the dummies site doesn’t let you set up an account.
I feel they have falsely advertised this book, as the additional content is part of the appeal
