Apart from entertaining it is a charming read. If you read the info on the author it tells you that these are ‘old style’ story books. The story itself is timeless and gentle. I love the fact that each page has it’s own story, in the drawing as well as words. Arrived sooner that expected in perfect condition. Very pleased with purchase. R xxx

I bought this book because I was feeling very nostalgic. My granddad used to tell me the story of Madeline when I was a child so I very much wanted to get my hands on a copy. Came very quick and in excellent condition. It’s shorter than I remember it being though (48 pages? It seemed longer when I was a child) but the story did not disappoint and brought a smile to my face. I will definitely buy the rest in the series next.

One of the book which I grew up with, great for kids and adults. The pictures of Paris are iconic, and the story of little rebel Madeleine is sweet! The book ismuch bigger than what i was expecting

Make sure you know what you’re buying – I didn’t read the long description and presumed this was the normal book. But it’s a small-sized abridged version. Fine if that what you’re after, but if you’re buying this for nostalgia, seek out the full-sized one.
Amazon could do a much better job of clarifying that this is not the original…

Bought this as a writing stimulus for my year 4 pupils. Although they’re isn’t a lot of text, we got loads of writing out of it, and it created a real curiosity about the city of Paris!

Was my favourite book as a child – I bought it for my niece’s sixth birthday and she adores it too. I’ve lent her all the other books in the series, and it’s been so fun reading them with her!

Another classic of children’s literature. Suspense, friendship in a boarding school in an exotic location – Paris in the 30’s. The story flows, the occasional forced rhymes are funny, we have sickness and recovery, jealousy and friendship renewed, all overseen by the kind and caring (and very fit) miss Clavell. And with a brave and adventurous girl heroine. Perfect for 2+, boys and girls alike. This book has stood the test of time.
