bought for my five year old granddaughter who is just starting to read by herself. On her mum’s request. I’m just sad I don’t get to sit with her while she reads it.

All of Julia Donaldsons Songbirds books are fantastic! We started with Bob Bug when my daughter started school in September and we are already on this one now. She loves the stories – they are so much more engaging than the books she brings home from school. They get progressively harder as you progress through them but in a good way that really motivates and encourages. I cannot recommend these books enough for anyone learning to read. Best thing we ever brought!

The ‘Songbirds’ books are perfect for phonics learners. Every single word is level- appropriate and yet the stories are all interesting and engaging, even funny.
Just be aware that there are three “collections” for Stage 2 Songbirds and there is clear progression between them, so you will want to read them in the correct order.
