Very good book. Before it used to come with a cd with all the songs. But now it’s a code for online. Great condition though.

My ten year old is already having acoustic lessons and decided he’d like to learn the electric guitar too. This is the first book I’ve bought, and so far so good. The pieces are written out in both notation and tab form – so what looks complicated in notation often turns out to be much simpler when you look at the tab – this is a great encouragement.
Amp settings are discussed, improvisation is introduced and there’s a section on power chords.
This is designed to accompany grades, but even though he won’t be doing those this tutor is still proving to be very useful as an introductory guide.

My daughters guitar teacher recommended this music book so we bought one.
After several months my daughter was ready to consider doing her electric guitar grade one exam.
Her music teacher explained that registering for the exam was done online by us. My 14 year old created an account on the Rock school website ( very straight forward ) and was given a choice of places locally where she could sit the exam and dates convenient to us. We chose the Norwich venue which was perfect. A month later she received the confirmation of date for her exam which was two weeks later. She passed, result.
All in all we can find no fault with this system, it worked really well for my daughter…

The Rockschool scheme is a good, unfussy way to work through guitar tuition and grading. Each stage involves playing set pieces from established rock songs as well as specially written songs that cover the basics of guitar technique. Unlike other music grading systems, the Rockschool scheme allows you just to play guitar and not to have to sing or do any other non-guitar types of musical performance. as part of grading.
This Grade 1 book has now been replaced (the 2018 edition) but the format remains the same – also included is a download code that allows access to all the tracks in the book as full band versions or just backing tracks (with or without timing clicks) to practice alongside.
Recommended.

My son is working through the book in conjunction with his guitar lessons. He’s enjoying it so far
