The Geeky Chef cookbook takes us on a journey through fandoms from A-Z! Jam packed with favourite recipes from all manner of genre, fantasy, dystopian, sci-do, gamer nerds, top tv, this cookbook is sure to offer even the pickiest geeks a delicious fan approved dish! During lockdown we had the chance to try several of the recipes featured and we found some firm family favourites! Once I declared with certainty, that the new “Dragonbreath Chilli” is a popular food from WoW or that Los Pollos Hermanos is straight from Breaking Bad, even my pickiest eater tucked in. Just casually dropping “try this Elder Scrolls” dish or “this is a Zelda original recipe” was enough incentive for my geeks to at least try (if not demolish) the offerings! All recipes come with quirky background stories and the author gives us little insights into her own geekyness with her narration. Some of the recipes ingredients sound a little strange but they all work strangely well! You just have to trust in the journey!

This book is a fun present idea for any fan of sci-fi and fantasy tv shows, games and movies. There is a mixed collection of different dishes some sensible and some outlandish but what more could you ask for. I can’t wait to make the DragonsBreath Chilli and the cheese buns. There are also some great desert ideas that would make amazing party foods.

Not gotten around to making any of the recipes yet but they all sound delicious! The one recipe I was surprised to see was the deeper’n’ever tayter pie from Redwall. I used to love that series and now I can make one of their recipe! It’s a smaller sized book than I was expecting but that’s good as it doesn’t take too much space up. I have too many cookbooks as it is!

Lots of fun and quirky recipes available within this book. Various cuisines and lots can easily be adapted for gluten free diets etc.
Have tried a couple of dishes this afternoon and they tasted ‘different’ but still very good. Looking forward to trying some more

I bought this for my husband, but really I wanted it for myself! I really enjoyed the back story to each recipe, although I’m quite geeky I am not fully across all geekdom so I enjoyed learning about other games, shows and films. The recipes have been fairly easy to follow and tasty so far.

I bought a copy of The Geeky Chef as a gift for a good friend of mine who loves sci-fi and who also has a keen interest in the scientific side of cooking. The book itself has lots of unusual and creative recipes and is nicely illustrated with clear photos. The text accompanying the recipes explains more about the background of the dish and the creations themselves. The measurements in the recipes are given in both metric (grams and millilitres) and US (cups, ounces and pounds) but smaller measures such as teaspoons are common to both formats. Overall a fun book, which is ideal for anyone with an interest in sci-fi, fantasy and cooking!
