My grandson enjoyed reading this book but he said it was not as scary as he expected from reading previous reviews. That is why we have given it 4 stars.

I bought this for my grandson and was disappointed at its lack of structure and poor grammar. It is has obviously been privately published and I can understand why.
I will certainly not be purchasing any other books written by this “author”.

I came across this book when looking for something to read with my daughter who is almost 9. She doesn’t scare easily so I thought it would be a good first ‘scary story’ for her. At times she found the dialogue a little ‘mature’ so I would say it is perfect for 9–15 year olds as suggested.
I found the story itself to be very gripping and engaging: the characters are well-crafted and believable and the story kept both of us engaged. I think it’s possibly a little formally written in places for under 11s but this wasn’t a problem.
The author was excellent at creating suspense and keeping us on the edge of our toes waiting to see what would happen next! I look forward to reading more from CJ Loughty in the future.
