Proponents of the New Atheist movement commonly use scientific discourse to make a case against theism. Richard Dawkins famously positions Darwinian evolution as a replacement for the ‘God Thesis’. New Atheists like A.C Grayling, Christopher Hitchens and others make the case that belief in religion is inhibiting to science. Moreover, New Atheists claim that science can tell us all we need to know about the world. On this view, reference to a divine being is superfluous. This small book is a refutation of these claims. By referencing the works of western intellectuals, the author demonstrates decisively how flawed these postulations are. The author is able to show that despite the seemingly forceful and pervasive nature of New Atheist claims in public discourse, the actual success of New Atheists is largely over-rated.

Very good read. However, a little short.

Amazing book, goes through the flaws of the new atheists concept. Personally I used to believe in evolution very strongly myself, through numerous research into the evolution theory I’ve found that there is no single piece of observable evidence to show one species changing into another species. NOT ONE. The scientific process I believe does say that in order for something to be established as a scientific fact that it needs to be observed, if you can’t observe even bacteria changing into another species or any kind of “change of kinds” as Darwin said then it’s as good as believing that your local pizza delivery driver is good enough to be your heart surgeon. ADAPTATION is TRUE, changing the features/becoming more stronger and fitter for survival. HOWEVER CHANGING SPECIES is NOT TRUE. There’s no credible evidence for it today.
Looking at the historical change of the United Kingdom changing from a Christian country (based upon the laws of the bible/Christianity) to a secular country (laws are man made and church and state made separate) we see that attempts were made by certain individuals to promote/fund this Darwinian evolution theory as fact whether they believed it or not because these powerful people were pushing the idea of secularism as secularism was on the rise in this time in history.
Fantastic book and great read. It’s a shame amazon doesn’t offer 10 stars because I would rate it 10 stars if I could.
