This is the first book by Sophie Claire that I have read and it was quite enjoyable. I liked the different points of view from Carys and Mat and the feeling of a reverse ‘You’ve Got Mail vibe. I did like Mat and understood why he did what he did but I couldn’t take to Carys sometimes and did wonder where the money came from to completely renovate the cafe, it seemed a bit implausible. Probably would have been better if I had read it nearer to Christmas time.

This is storyline has all the right ingredients to keep us enthralled in the storyline of Carys and Matt along with the customers and staff at the Red Cat Cafe in Paris ???????? making this book a delicious read.
Sophie cleverly blends the locations of Willowbrook, Paris and Provence, and creates intrigue and derision in the shape of Madame Incognito and her unsavoury 1⭐️ online reviews and the impact it creates for all concerned.
It’s a wonderful storyline, that I really didn’t want to end.

I was happy to see that Carys got her own story, after we were introduced to her in A Winter’s Dream. She is such a sweet, resilient character and I really warmed to her. I found it very hard to like Mat at times. What he did was awful, as the story went on I eventually got over it but highlighted the effect that negative reviews have on people. There was a lot of depth to Carys and Mat which made for good reading. I will say that This Christmas in Paris isn’t particularly a festive read. Most of the story takes place outside of the festive period. Overall, I did enjoy this book and I’ll look forward to Sophie’s next one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Hodder and Stoughton for the opportunity to read this Advance Reader’s Copy.

This is a new Author to me and I will certainly be Reading more of her books.. The story is about Cary’s who has suffered a trauma, and goes to manage a cafe in Paris while the Owners have to go away for a few months. She doesn’t have experience but wonders how hard it can be. There are a few teething problems with existing staff and a resident cat but she copes well. Lonely and a little homesick she enjoys exploring in the City and eventually meets a male friend in the park. Several characters live through difficult situations. I highly recommend you read this book.

Having read a couple of Sophie’s books before this one, I eagerly awaited the publication of This Christmas in Paris – and it did not disappoint! Read it over a weekend as I couldn’t put it down. Really enjoyed this book.

After suffering from a horrific accident and spending six months in a comma, Cerys is desperate for a new start. This is in the form of managing the Red Cat Cafe. Whilst in Paris she meets Mat a journalist who works for a small paper and hates his job. Can they turn their relationship from friendship to something more whilst they are both keeping secrets? A nice cast of cafe staff and customers. A nice novel to dive into.

Carys is still suffering after a serious accident left her in a coma for 6 months, although it’s more the way she is treated by everybody with kid gloves. She takes the opportunity to manage a small cafe in Paris, although she has to embellish her cv to convince the owners that she can do the job. There she meets Mat, a journalist working for a small local paper and they strike up a friendship. Each doesn’t know where the other works, which leads to serious complications.
I did feel for Carys, struggling to look after the cafe and also Mat, working in a job he hates which I can certainly relate to. The story is more about how 1* reviews can be really disheartening for the recipient, whether it is deserved or not and can crush the most sensitive. It also highlights the problems with keeping secrets from each other in a relationship. Despite the negative parts of the story the positives outweigh these with friendships that are made and all against the backdrop of Paris preparing for Christmas.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
