Duke Spencer and Lady Anna first met at their wedding ceremony for their marriage of convenience. If that wasn’t enough Spencer just disappeared for a year the next morning. It took a fake memorial service declared by Anna to bring him home to prove that he was not dead!! This story is rich with action, emotion and interesting characters. I loved it.

Book 2 of the Corset Chronicles series is a marriage of convenience story but with many secrets. Anna is married off by her horrible father to Duke Spencer who she doesn’t meet until the ceremony. It is supposed to be a marriage in name only and Spencer swiftly leaves early the next morning without any intimacy.
Anna copes on her own for a year, with some help from her friends but has no way of contacting her missing husband. Once the year anniversary passes, an unknown cousin of her husband visits and threatens that her husband will lose his estates (& her home) if he does not return plus egregiously propositions her.
Desperate to get her husband to return, she scandalously holds a funeral for him. It works! And Spencer has to make up a story to explain the miscommunication about his assumed death.
Now that he is back, Anna has so many questions and fears. She eventually tells him the reason for her funeral ruse and he agrees to stay until everything is settled. He confronts his cousin, but his cousin has clearly spread heinous gossip around the Ton that Anna is an unfaithful wanton – which she is far from!
But can Anna trust Spencer? Will he ever tell her where he was and why? Will he leave again? Can either of them resist the growing attraction? Can they find their HEA? Overall an enjoyable read.

The book was really interesting, Anna was just a lover girl, and I’m glad Spencer (the duke) came to his senses in the end, that he loved her and valued her happiness

We are back with the corset chronicles and this time Anna is the friend to find true love with the husband her father has arrange for her Spencer has secrets that cause him to leave her for a year but they find their way to get her with the help of their friends

This was just an average story it does not live up to the intro! The duke is a butchers as is his wife! The conversations seem to be more from the friends! I’m the past I have been engrossed in this authors stories, not so much this one!!!😥 it was a way to pass a blustery day!!

Duchess Anna and Duke Spencer married with Anna abandoned untouched on her wedding night. Spencer is absent for a year and Anna has no way of either knowing where he is or contacting him. She assumes control of the Duchy. His cousin is the main executor of the estate attempts to pressure Anna into an illicit arrangement. Rumours of her various relationships outside of marriage continue to flood the Ton. In order to force the Duke’s return Anna stages his funeral/memorial. Spencer returns to prove that the rumours of his death are unfounded and convinces Anna to pretend they are happily married. However, Anna is aware that Spencer plans to leave again as soon as the Ton is appeased. Spencer is dealing with a secret related to his family that he feels that only he can handle and refuses to enlighten Anna as to the nature of this problem. Spencer blows hot and cold in his relationship with Anna as he tries to handle their growing relationship and whatever his family issue actually is. An interesting premise that at times proves frustrating reading

I enjoyed this steamy story. Duke Spencer and Lady Anna marry. They had not met before the wedding and he left her immediately after the wedding, for almost a year. There is a pretend funeral, an unmarried mother, lots of secrets and lots of distrust until all is made clear. Despite all of that, love found a way to grow.
I did feel the story lacked the excitement that I have found in other stories by this author.
