Raven in Midwinter (Raven of the Woods)
Sometimes the most frightening thing is not the wind howling through the trees…but what’s lurking there.
Xander Corey is certain that what his husband, Lorne MacBain, the chief of police in their little town of Osprey, is seeing outside their kitchen window is nothing to worry about. It’s concerning that whenever Xander looks, there’s nothing there, but really, it could be anything. Why borrow trouble and assume the worst? Besides, it’s midwinter, after all, and everything is sleeping.
Or should be.
And while during the deep, dark days and even darker nights, things can get spooky, that’s not to say that logical minds won’t prevail, even when tested at the most vulnerable time. Remaining steadfast in the face of danger is what guardians do… and staying alive would certainly help as well.

I love this world and being able to return to these characters. It’s like a warm, cozy blanket for my mind. I hope we keep getting stories and seeing the love this couple has for each other grow and build. Definitely recommend .

I love witchy Mary stories but they typically get better the second read due to all the new world building and mythology. This was a fantastic addition to the Raven of the Woods series with Xan and Lorne having to fight for the land they protect

Wonderful story of Xander and Lorne in wintertime, with new evil trying to unsettle the land. I said it before, Mary Calmes puts words together in a way that charms the soul. They have rhythm and melody beyond the story itself and weave together in magic silk. The only thing I could want added, is Joel’s voice to tell me this story once again. Make this possible in the new year?

A lovely story full of love and overcoming the bad *guys”. A great continuation of the series. Can be read alone but I’d recommend reading previous in series first.

Xan, Lorne, and Argos are back! Things become as complicated and tricky as ever. The family is back together and the love is strong in this book. I laughed and cried. Definitely worth a read or three. Loved it and hope there are more stories of the guardians of Corvus to come.

Love this series. I’m very happy with this addition to it.

Time line jumps are hard for me to follow. What I stood out for me the most is how much hottie Lorne McBaine does stand on his own but always in support for his husband.
I think I’ll start the series over again just for fun.

This book is part of a series, but you can read all on it’s own. If you like magic and a story of a couple very much in love with a heavy dose of reality, then this is you book. Mary Calmes has a way of writing that just pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. I have read 63 of her books. She just gets better and better. This series is one of my favorites. I am a fan.
