Above all, Dummy will keep you laughing through the exhaustion, the mystery and the madness of bringing up your own children.
This is the parenting book for real people.

Rats: The Essential Guide to Ownership, Care, & Training for Your Pet
What pet can play fetch, learn its name, and still ride around in your pocket? It’s a rat, of course, and if you’re surprised by this, you should take some time to learn more about these delightful animals. Though wild rats have earned a bad rap for spreading illness and disease, domestic rats are clean and friendly animals that can be loving and wonderful additions to any family. If you have children that want pets but you’re not ready for a dog, a pet rat may be a great compromise. These little critters are fabulous pets for kids, requiring relatively simple care that even grade school children can understand and handle. They’re adaptable, affectionate, and tons of fun to watch and play with. With a life-span up to 5 years, your child can have a long relationship with her animals. Rats make great adult companions too, of course. Their minimal space requirements make them ideal for apartment dwellers, and their self-sufficiency and flexible sleeping habits mean they’ll adapt readily to even busy schedules. When they’re cared for properly, rats aren’t prone to many illnesses or health issues, and they’re affordable both up-front and in the long-term. Most of the challenges in rat care are caused by the animal’s remarkable intelligence. The information in this book will teach you how to properly house these notorious escape artists. You’ll also learn about the proper nutrition and care to keep your rats healthy in the long term, and how to identify and fix problems if they do come up. Introductions to breeding, showing, and training your animals are also included, if you want to take your rat ownership to the next level. Cuddly, smart, and entertaining, a pet rat combines the low time commitment of a small animal with the affection of a dog—and you may just find it’s the perfect pet for you.Read more

A History of Fairground Transport: From Horses to Artics
Travelling fairs hold a special place in English history and traditions. Once or twice a year local towns and villages are overwhelmed with a cacophony of sounds, sights and smells, bringing magic and excitement into peoples’ lives before, all too quickly, moving on. The transient nature of travelling fairs is part of their magic, and an integral part of that magic is the transport that carries the people and the rides. More than just vehicles however, fairground transport is often an integral part of the show, acting as homes for the showmen, a way of generating power and even converting into parts of the rides themselves. In short, they are part of the way of life. This book looks at the history of the travelling fair through its transport, beginning with how it has evolved from what a performer could carry on their back and simple horse-drawn caravans, through to steam-powered traction engines and war surplus petrol and electric vehicles, finally bringing the story up to date with today’s mega lorries and cranes.Read more

From Moorlands to Highlands: A History of Harris and Miners and Brian Harris Transport (Old Pond Books) History of the Red, Green, and Yellow Trucks … of Harris & Miners and…
This book follows the history and development of Brian Harris Transport Limited, the original red, green, and yellow liveried lorries that made the trek between Devon and Scotland at regular intervals for over fifty years. In 1946, Brian’s father, Jerry, and Sam Miners formed Harris & Miners; with their fleet of two Ford trucks and one Commertipper, these two men took on the ultimate haulage challenge of the time: road vs. train. The outcome was that Harris & Miners were offered a contract to haul ‘Devon Grate’ Candy fire surrounds to Glasgow in 1947. Young Brian Harris began driving for his father in an Albion Chieftain in 1960. When Jerry Harris passed, Brian bought out the Miners family and the company became Brian Harris Transport Limited. With his fleet of ERF lorries fitted with Gardner engines, Brian set about running the company in a way only understood by him. Over the course of its existence, the company utilized a vast quantity of magnificent machines, including the first ERF ‘A’ series in that area, the Leyland Roadtrain and one Leyland DAF. Brian Harris died in April 2012 and his funeral was attended by over 600 people from all over the UK. This new edition gives an update to the events that have taken place since the second edition was published in 2007, including the eulogy given by the author at the funeral, as well as 82 previously unpublished photographs. This book is about trading techniques surrounding Fibonacci tools, based on the miracle sequence discovered by an Italian mathematician centuries ago. The reliability of Fibonacci tools lies in their ability to closely connect with the three most important aspects in trading: support, resistance, and trend.

- Step-by-step guidance on how to draw Fibonacci retracement and extension levels in the most accurate way;

Every Page Is Page One: Topic-Based Writing for Technical Communication and the Web
The Web changes how people use content; not just content on the Web, but all content. If your content is not easy to find and immediately helpful, readers will move on almost at once. We are all children of the Web, and we come to any information system, including product documentation, looking for the search box and expecting every search to work like Google. There is no first, last, previous, next, up, or back anymore. Every Page is Page One.For technical communicators, this Every Page is Page One environment presents a unique challenge: How do you cover a large and complex product using only topics, and how do you enable your readers to find and navigate topic-based content effectively?
In this ground-breaking book, Mark Baker looks beyond the usual advice on writing for the Web, and beyond the idea of topic-based writing merely as an aid to efficiency and reuse, to explore how readers really use information in the age of the Web and to lay out an approach to planning, creating, managing, and organizing topic-based documentation that really works for the reader.

Training and Assessing Non-Technical Skills: A Practical Guide
Providing a practical guide to the training and assessment of non-technical skills within high-risk industries, this book will be of direct interest to safety and training professionals working within aviation, healthcare, rail, maritime, and other high-risk industries. Currently, each of these industries are working to integrate non-technical skills into their training and certification processes, particularly in light of increasing international regulation in this area. However, there is no definitive guidance to assist practitioners within these areas with the design of effective non-technical skills training and assessment programs. This book sets out to fully meet this need. It has been designed as a practically focussed companion to the 2008 book Safety at the Sharp End by Flin, O’Connor and Crichton. While Safety at the Sharp End provides the definitive exploration of the need for non-technical skills training, and examines in detail the main components of non-technical skills as they relate to safe operations, the text does not focus on the “nuts and bolts” of designing training and assessment programs. To this end, Training and Assessing Non-Technical Skills: A Practical Guide provides an extension of this work and a fitting companion text.Read more
