    02

“It’s a fabulous thing to give life to fabric, to make something move well, the harmony of colour” – Hubert de Givenchy

More sculptor than designer, Hubert de Givenchy created a house that is utterly timeless.

This exquisitely illustrated volume explores the story behind the brand, from its creation in 1952 to its current leadership and designs. Through a carefully curated collection of finished designs, close-up details and key moments, this book shines a light on the dazzling world of Givenchy.

  • Little Book of Vivienne Westwood: The story of the iconic fashion house: 22 (Little Book of Fashion)

Designer, punk, rebel, dame… Vivienne Westwood was all this and more. One of the main architects of the 1970s punk era, the inimitable Westwood refused to take fashion too seriously, finding unique and arresting ways to subvert tradition and challenge the status quo.

But her impact on the industry was more than ripped T-shirts. A master of tailoring and mistress of corsetry, she deconstructed street fashion and parodied English looks with tight waists, bustles and a zany take on tartan and Harris Tweed.

Clients include Dita Von Teese, FKA Twigs and Doja Cat, her signature designs have featured in Japanese manga, Nana, and having captivated the TikTok generation, her vintage pieces still go viral today.

Punk in both fashion and politics to the very end, Vivienne Westwood will remain an icon of fashion and feminism for generations to come.

    07
SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2018 POLARI PRIZE

‘Life affirming and triumphant’ Mark A. Radcliffe

‘Vivid and touching… this book left me haunted long after I put it down’ Umi Sinha

The heat is oppressive and storms are brewing in Brighton in the summer of 1982. Little Gold, a boyish girl on the brink of adolescence, is struggling with the reality of her broken family and a home descending into chaos. Her only refuge is the tree at the end of her garden.

Into her fractured life steps elderly neighbour, Peggy Baxter. The connection between the two is instant, but just when it seems that Little Gold has found solace, outsiders appear who seek to take advantage of her frail family in the worst way possible. In an era when so much is hard to speak aloud, can Little Gold share enough of her life to avert disaster? And can Peggy Baxter, a woman running out of time and with her own secrets to bear, recognise the danger before it’s too late?

‘A tender, beautifully paced and deeply moving debut… Little Gold herself is a wonderful centrepiece… and in Peggy Baxter, Rogers has offered up one of the most engaging heroines I have read in a very long time. This is a book about individual struggle that manages to be both life affirming and triumphant.’ Mark A. Radcliffe, author of Gabriel’s Angel

‘Such a wonderfully moving and atmospheric novel, full of very real and very touching relationships. A brilliant portrayal of the pain and wonder of leaving behind childhood, beautifully evocative of a Brighton summer in the 1980s.’ Catherine Hall, author of Days of Grace

‘Reminiscent of Scout Finch, Little Gold is a great addition to literature’s endearing child characters. Vivid, touching, sad and frightening, this book exposes the dark underbelly of 1980s Brighton and left me haunted long after I put it down.’Umi Sinha, author of Belonging

‘A gripping and yet tender novel, and the characters of Peggy Baxter and Little Gold are brilliantly handled. I was rooting for Little Gold from the start, and fascinated and moved by Peggy’s story. Brighton is so vividly depicted, too. It’s a great first novel.’ Bethan Roberts, author of My Policeman

‘Opening Allie Rogers’ Little Gold I found myself engrossed in a vibrant, moving tale of one family’s struggle to get by. This is a book about survival, about the pluck and power of a singular child and the fundamental importance of friendship.’ Alison Smith, author of Name All the Animals

‘Little Gold is a step back in time, into a rich world with complex characters on meaningful inner journeys that are quietly intriguing.’ Hannah Hohman, ForeWord Reviews

  • Little London Transport: Network SouthEast 30th Anniversary Special Edition: Volume 1

    03
A collaborative photographic history in model form with a little type and model history added too. This originally started as a project to create a photo book of my model Bus and Railway collection. I then started to seek help from some other model photographers on the photo sharing website Flickr. Before I knew it we had more people on board and an extensive collection was starting to build including some rare types and starting to detail the history of these vehicles types in model form. This is the first book in the series, soon to follow are further editions detailing London’s Buses, Trains, Trams, Trolleybuses and Tubes. As Network SouthEast has always been one of my favourite railway operators I thought I would release a special NSE edition first to celebrate 30 years since it’s inception. NSE was created when I was a small child and the trains were noticeably much more brighter than the grey and blue units that came before and became an obvious choice when I started a model railway a few years ago (to be detailed further in a later book). NSE really was something very different from what had gone before with bright colours of its trains, red all over it’s stations and a real effort to improve its trains and services thanks to the idea created and implemented by Chris Green. This book contains over 90 colour photos with a description displaying Network SouthEast models in a realistic scene with a little history info too. Release history Version 1.0 – 11th October 2016 Version 1.1 – 13th October 2016 Small amendment to details of Dapol and Heljan Class 86 Version 1.2 – 17th October 2016 A further photo of 47401 with a rake of NSE coaches added Version 1.3 – 21st November 2016 13 photos added by Andy Carter and a further 5 photos added by Jonathan Francis

Mr Tickle was soon joined by Mr Greedy, Mr Happy, Mr Nosey, Mr Sneeze and Mr Bump. The books were an instant hit and Roger went on to create many more Mr Men and Little Miss characters. • Little Pianist. Piano Songbook for Kids: Beginner Piano Sheet Music for Children with 55 Songs (+ Free Audio)

    08
One of the biggest mistakes when someone starts learning to play the piano is playing songs with their index finger instead of using all fingers and both hands. Most piano sheet music books for kids have notes for practicing with the right hand only, which encourages the ‘plinky-plonk’ playing that children should avoid.

In this book, however, all songs have treble and bass clef notes for practicing with both hands!

So, suppose you are looking for a diverse collection of large-print piano sheet music for kids, young learners, or adult students that are simple enough for beginners to play and show letters (note names), numbers (fingerings), and lyrics. In that case, this is the perfect book for you.

In this book, you will get:

    • 55 BEGINNER PIANO SONGS FOR KIDS — All songs have been arranged especially for young learners. This means that all complex chords and rhythms have been simplified. Also, all the pieces are kept relatively short, only one or two pages long. This will allow your child to enter the magic world of piano without frustration.
    • FROM EASIEST TO HARDEST – Are you tired of searching for piano pieces with the appropriate difficulty? At the beginning of this book, you will find very simple songs, and then they gradually get more challenging as the book progresses. This will keep your child motivated and enable them to progress through the levels.
    • DIFFERENT TYPES OF SONGS – You will get a diverse selection of pieces: well-known children’s songs and nursery rhymes and simplified classical pieces, as well as famous English evergreens and international folk songs. This varied selection of easy sheet music will fuel your kid’s enjoyment when practicing the piano.
    • WITH LETTERS AND NUMBERS – The most straightforward songs in this book are presented with letters above the music notes to help you know what keys to press. However, as the pieces get more complex, the note names have been deliberately left out to encourage note recognition. All songs include finger placements (numbers) in problem areas.
    • LARGE PRINT – Most music notes for beginners are pretty small, so learners struggle to read them without squinting. To avoid this, all songs in this book have a clear layout and large print for students to follow the pieces easily.
    • NOTES FOR BOTH HANDS – Most easy piano pieces for children have notes for practicing one hand only, encouraging them to play songs with only their index finger. The proper technique, however, is playing with all fingers and both hands. That’s why all pieces in this book are in both treble and bass clef (i.e., both right and left hand).
    • FREE AUDIO FILES TO DOWNLOAD – Do you want to get an idea of what a piece should sound like? If you are unsure how to play a piece, our audio files will help you get a feel for the melody.

Buy this book NOW and enter the splendid world of piano and music.

This book also makes a perfect gift idea, birthday gift or Christmas present!

In Live Beautiful, the highly anticipated design book by Athena Calderone, the EyeSwoon creator taps into her network of interior decorators, fashion designers, and tastemakers to reveal how carefully crafted interiors come together. She also opens the doors to two of her own residences. She then breaks down the details of the rooms―like layered textures and patterns, collected pieces, and customized vignettes―and offers helpful tips and advice on how to bring these elevated elements into your own space. Filled with gorgeous photography by Nicole Franzen, Live Beautiful is both a showpiece of exquisite design and a guide to creating a home that’s unique and thoughtfully put together.

‘LIVE STREAMING BASICS: Everything you need to get started – Simply explained’ is one of the very few books currently available that deals with the topic of ‘how to do a live stream’ and can indeed be an important chapter in the education of informed streamers and future live shows directors.

These fascinating details have reference to Shakespeare, to the great dramatists of his day, and to the principal actors engaged in the original performance of their plays, including such towering figures as Richard Burbage, John Heminge, William Kempe, Augustine Phillips and Henry Condell.

  • Living in Early Victorian London

    01
London in the 1840s was sprawling and smoke-filled, a city of extreme wealth and abject poverty. Some streets were elegant with brilliantly gas-lit shop windows full of expensive items, while others were narrow, fetid, muddy, and in many cases foul with refuse and human filth. Railways, stations and sidings were devouring whole districts and creating acres of slums or ‘rookeries’ into which the poor of the city were jammed and where crime, disease and prostitution were rife.

The most sensational crime of the epoch, the murder of Patrick O’Connor by Frederick and Maria Manning, filled the press in the summer and autumn of 1849. Michael Alpert uses the trial record of this murder, accompanied by numerous other contemporary sources, among them journalism, diaries and fiction, to show how day-to-day lives, birth, death, sickness, work, shopping, cooking, and buying clothes, were lived in the crowded, noisy capital in the early decades of Victoria’s reign. These sources illustrate how ordinary people lived in London, their incomes, entertainments, religious practice, reading and education, their hopes and anxieties. Life in Early Victorian London reveals how ordinary people like the Mannings and thousands of others experienced their multifaceted lives in the greatest capital city of the world.

Early Victorian London lived on the cusp of great improvements, but it was a city which in some aspects was mediaeval. Its inhabitants enjoyed the benefit of the Penny Post and the omnibus, and they were protected to some extent by a police force. The Mannings fled their crime on the railway, were trapped by the recently-invented telegraph and arrested by ‘detectives’ (a new concept and word), but they were hanged in public as murderers had been for centuries, watched by a baying, drunken and swearing mob.
